Make your Home Green
Going green is easier than you think!
Here are some tips for better Home Energy Efficiency!
Check out Do-it-yourself-projects.com right now, they have a FREE 5 Part e-course on assessing your needs. I am currently using it and it is VERY helpful!
Energy efficient windows – if it’s time to replace your old windows then by all means start with Energy Star replacement windows. Not only will this save on your heat bills in the winter, but help to keep the heat outside where it belongs in the summer. They are ususally double paned with warm edge spacers between the windows and a coating to reduce radioactive heat flow.
Eco-friendly flooring – instead of using up the forests for our hardwood floors – why not use an alternative like cork, bamboo or eucalyptus flooring products. There are so many choices out there today available to the consumer and they are much for affordable and very durable at the sametime.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs - These energy efficient bulbs use 70% less energy than regular bulbs and will save you money! Being green has it’s advantages!
Tankless water heaters - We just had the plumber install one in our home last week and it works great! They provide hot water on demand for those occassions when you have alot of company visiting or if you have a large family. There are solar water heaters too that can reduce your costs by 80% and prevent carbon dioxide emissions into the air.
High efficiency toliets – Did you know that in the majority of homes – flushing the toliets accounts for 30% of water usuage? Today’s newly redesigned toliets use less water but funciton more efficiently than the low-flow models. These new toliets can reduce the usuage up to 25%.
Home insulation – a MUST for going green! The higher the R-value or thermal resistance the more cost effective it will be for your home whether it’s heating in the winter or cooling in the summer months, the bottom line is you save money and feel more comfortable in your home. Sprayed insulations made of foam or cellulose are alternatives to traditional glass fiber batting. Start saving money while you become green for our environment!
Going green at home not only enhances the value of your property, but it also enhances the lifestyle of all those around you.
